More about IJF changes

In last post I commented on the leg grab potential rule changes from the IJF. This post should be a bit shorter!

In the same notice from IJF above it is suggested Judo should run with just 1 ref on the mat. He should be allowed to consult video replay to confirm his decisions.

Currently Judo has a system of 3 refs where the majority decision is the decision that is used. Sounds complicated but the refs can change decisions as the match continues without much interruption.

Now as I understand the proposal, if a ref isn't 100% he should consult the video replay. Meaning a break in the action for spectators but also and perhaps more importantly, a break for the players to rest.

Players getting (albeit short) breaks in the match while the ref consults the video would surely change the dynamic of the match where one player may be fitter that the other.

Would these video review breaks be long enough to make enough difference to players when considering the required fitness levels?
